Bij resistentie voor ganciclovir kan in overleg met arts-microbioloog en/of internist-infectioloog en ziekenhuisapotheek foscarnet 90mg/kg 2 dd worden overwogen.
Indien mogelijk immuunsuppressiva afbouwen (orgaantransplantaties), of immuunstatus verbeteren (start behandeling bij/voor HIV).
