Bij zwangeren kan erytromycine po 500mg 4 dd 14 dagen worden gegeven.
De microbiologische diagnostiek berust op het aantonen van Chlamydia psittacosis middels PCR of het aantonen van specifieke antistoffen tegen Chlamydia species middels serologisch onderzoek.
Chlamydia psittaci (psittacose) is een meldingsplichtige ziekte groep C.
