General comments
De belangrijkste verwekkers zijn S. aureus, S. pyogenes , S. pneumoniae en H. influenzae.
In de acute fase is systemische antimicrobiële therapie aangewezen omdat dit ziektebeeld samen kan gaan met een diepere infectie zoals orbitale cellulitis of sepsis. Daarna kan worden overgegaan op oogdruppels.
Therapie aanpassen op geleide van de kweek.
