General comments

Deze ernstige necrotiserende infectie wordt veroorzaakt door P. aeruginosa.
De therapie bestaat uit chirurgische verwijdering van gedevitaliseerd weefsel c.q. lokale ondersteunende behandeling (zoals Terracortril + polymyxine B oordruppels of ofloxacine 0,3%) in combinatie met antimicrobiële therapie.
Bij patiënten met diabetes glucosespiegel goed instellen.
In eerste instantie is intraveneuze therapie gedurende 14 dagen aangewezen. Hierna wordt vervolgd met orale therapie tot 1-2 weken na klinische genezing (minimale behandelduur is 4 weken). Ciprofloxacine heeft het voordeel dat ook bij orale toediening adequate weefselspiegels worden bereikt.
